Familial Cookbook

For this project, I designed and illustrated a cookbook centered around recipes that hold personal significance to my family.  As my family is American, we make a lot of dishes from different cultures, so I wanted to highlight the recipes that were meaningful to me growing up, while also incorporating traditional Norwegian dishes to reflect my family's heritage. 

 Each dish featured in the cookbook was digitally painted and paired with decorative vector patterns to create a cohesive design throughout the book. wanted the illustrations and patterns to give the cookbook a warm and personal feel while also making it visually engaging. The cookbook includes a list of ingredients and the recipe on how to make it. To make this project I used Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and compiled everything together in InDesign. The final design brings together my family's traditions and my own illustration style to create something that feels unique to my upbringing.
